Planning permission success at Staffordshire residential scheme

Masterplan of Baldwins Gate Staffordshire

We’re very pleased to have helped our land promoter client Richborough secure consent for a proposed residential development in Baldwin’s Gate, Staffordshire.

Their plans for up to 200 market and affordable homes and green space were allowed on appeal earlier this month.

Our director James Parker provided transport planning advice during the course of the planning application over three years.

This included working closely with the Local Highways Authority to design transport and highways work which will deliver much needed highway safety and capacity improvements for Baldwins Gate residents, and those travelling along the A53 corridor.

James subsequently prepared a Proof of Evidence and attended the Public Inquiry as an expert witness to address the highways-related reason for refusal. While this predominantly related to the bus service provision through Baldwin’s Gate, it also sought to address sustainability concerns raised by the LPA’s planning witness.

Special mention to the other witnesses that gave evidence on behalf of Richborough, and our barrister Satnam Choongh at No 5 Chambers who led us brilliantly though the Inquiry:

Jonathan Berry – Tyler Grange
Ben Pycroft – Emery Planning Partnership
Louise Thorne – Knights
Alan Corinaldi-Knott – Knights
